Along with artists Brendan Jackson and Alicja Rogalska I will be working on an Arts Council funded project to work with the archives of the major manufacturing companies of the Black Country. Specifically Oldbury, West Bromwich and Wednesbury.
So far I have become fascinated by the newsletters of Accles and Pollock and aim to recreate one as part of the project. A strange mixture of the latest developments of the factory alongside the achievements of the workers and encouragement's to work harder, they show a picture of a culture that may now have been lost. They betray the relationships within the lost culture and hint at times when the directors realised they relied upon the workers and had more respect for them.
I’m also looking for people who worked at Accles and Pollock for a series of portraits I would like to do.
