RA Summer Show Reject letter.

Summer Exhibition 201812 June – 19 August
Dear Jain Mckay,
Thank you for submitting your artwork: CLAIRE.
The Members of the Summer Exhibition Committee have given careful consideration to your digital entry and regret that they will not be able to include your artwork in this year's exhibition.

We very much hope that you will submit work in future years.
With best wishes,
The Summer Exhibition Team

So it's a rejection, 2 years in a row, try again next year maybe.
It does mean that the print will now be for sale, contact me if you are interested.
I will be putting it in my Etsy shop.

Royal Academy of Arts - Summer Exhibition

I have decided to enter the RA Summer Exhibition this year with a small portrait of Grayson Perry Dressed as his alter-ego Claire. It was a tactical move, Grayson Perry stated he wanted new work and was going to compile a room of humorous works. So I made something new and humorous and hopefully something he would like as well as finding amusing. Its a long shot and a gamble. £35 could be waisted but its a chance I have to take, I think people get hooked on the RA show, people apply year after year, last year was my first application and  I applied with a very large work and thought later that it was probably a mistake to enter such a large work. While the judges may be looking for good work they might also be taking into consideration sales and space, how many small pieces could be hung in the same space as one big one? They are also possible looking for work that is likely to sell. Its all about the money.

So wish me luck, I would love to get in just to go to the Private View, it's in the hand of the Gods now.

Sky Arts Portrait artist of the year 2019 Reject letter.

Dear Artist

Thank you for your application to Portrait Artist of the Year 2019.
We have received even more applications this year. The judges have now examined every single submission, and have been more impressed than ever with the standard of the artwork. As always, their job whittling these down to a shortlist of just 72 artists to take part in 8 heats has not been an easy one, but on this occasion we regret to inform you that your application has not been successful.
Due to increasing popularity with the public it has been necessary this year to ticket the heats at the Wallace Collection in London and all the sessions are now fully booked. If you are not attending the heats we sincerely hope you will tune in to watch the new series when it transmits on Sky Arts in January 2019, and also be inspired to enter again next year.

Don’t forget the deadline for Landscape Artist of the Year 2018 is 11th May, so there is still time to submit your application!
We hugely appreciate the time and…

How to be feminine in an AI Universe

Artificial intelligence will come to sentient thought just as gender role models disintegrate. How will robots understand the feminine aspect when they are born into a world transgressing stereo typical male and female roles? The feminine aspect is nurturing and giving, it has Empathy, Affinity, Compassion. What will happen to these qualities? Will we live in a utopia where everyone nurtures the Male and Female aspects? Or will we live in a dystopia where the feminine is outlawed because it does not promote profit and power?
This exhibition will explore these issues and more. This body of work does not have a venue yet. If you would be interested in showing it please get in touch.

My Redbubble shop

As an artist Redbubble is a great place to see your artworks transformed in to products, I particularly like the clothing. Seeing a painting transformed into a dress is really exciting. I might start just wearing clothes that I have designed.

My digital designs look really good as dresses.
Please have a look, if you are an artist I recommend you think about adding your own designs.
